Chloé Williams On Pride & Prejudice
If you're an artist you need to be able to differentiate what's what in the world to use it to your advantage.
I met Chloé in 2019. We’d talked many times on Instagram, but the first time we met in person was at the FIT senior thesis show, where our sisters, who both studied photography, were presenting their thesis projects. While me and my sister are not twins like Chloé and her sister Ava are, it works out quite well that me and my sister are only about a year and a half apart, and while she’s a photographer, like Chloé, I am a writer.
I have been in awe of Chloé’s writing since I first saw it on Instagram, and I don’t know if I ever told her this, but she was one of the reasons I made an account to share my own writing. I really didn’t know anything about promoting my work, but the way Chloé fearlessly shares her most vulnerable work with the world is so inspiring. I am not exaggerating when I say Chloé makes words flow together on a page the way Taylor Swift makes words flow together in a song. She does not need a sold-out world tour to prove she is one of the greats.
I’ve witnessed Chloé get stopped around New York City by people who know her from Instagram or TikTok, and what I find most admirable about this is not that she’s someone recognizable but that her creations have resonated so deeply with her followers that they care enough to stop her on the street.
I knew I wanted to cover Pride & Prejudice for Valentine’s Day, and I knew there was no one better to talk to about the film than the number 1 Pride & Prejudice fan that I know, Chloé Williams. As usual, she blew me away with her writing, and I’m excited to share it with my Movie Mondays readers.
